The applet, shown below, has been initialized with the settings
necessary to calculate the
ground state of a one-dimensional harmonic oscillator.
Click the Solve button and the plotting window will
display the wave function in red and the potential in blue, with
a green horizontal line at the energy value.
(The first
calculation may take longer than subsequent ones since the applet
may need to download
some Java class files.)
The scale of the graph is set so that
the maximum value of the unnormalized wave function is 1.0.
The value of the energy and potential curves is obtained by
multiplying the graph value by the
Vscale
value given in the left panel.
