The top plot graphs the differential cross section in cm2 as a function of angle. The blue vertical line shows the incident angle.
The lower plot graphs the current in the wire in Amperes assuming an incoming plane wave with an electric field of 1 Newton/Coulomb.
The lower plot shows Real(Current) in red, Imaginary(Current) in blue and the absolute magnitude in green.
In either plot, to zoom in on an area of the plot, click and hold the mouse and drag down and to the right to form a little rectangle that will be expanded to give the new plot. You can do this repeatedly to see fine details in the plots. You can also drag up and to the left to pan.
The plotter is a modified version of ptplot by Edward A. Lee, Christopher Hylands, copyright University of California, used with permission. We have stripped out portions that are unnecessary for our application and changed the components to Java Foundation Classes light weight swing components for compatibility with the rest of this applet.
